Who it suits
- 14 mm core. A thinner core is livelier, the traditional pick for pop (Onix, Paddletek), though Pickleball Effect's 2026 analysis finds modern 16 mm paddles have lost little of it (Pickleball Effect).
- Light, 6.9–7.5 oz. In Paddletek's lightweight class. A very light paddle absorbs less shock, so the arm does more of the work (Paddletek, Pickleball.com).
- Widebody (shape estimated from the paddle's width). The most forgiving shape and the best on comfort measures (Pickleball Effect): a good start if you're undecided (Pickleball Effect).
- 5.5 in handle. Room for a two-handed backhand: 5.4 in or longer is what Pickleball Effect recommends (Pickleball Effect, PickleballUS).
- 4⅜ in grip. Grips of 4⅛ in or larger tend to need less squeezing (Pickleball Effect); if it's big for your hand, there's no making it smaller, so try before you buy.
Not published by Onix: swingweight, twistweight. The finder never hides a paddle for a missing spec; it ranks it lower.
