Who it suits
- 14 mm core. A thinner core is livelier, the traditional pick for pop (Onix, Paddletek), though Pickleball Effect's 2026 analysis finds modern 16 mm paddles have lost little of it (Pickleball Effect).
- Heavy, 8.5 oz. Paddles of 8.5 oz and over are rarely a good start for new players and tire the arm faster (Paddletek); the finder hides them for players with arm trouble.
